Instead of deciding each video on its own, a content mix sets the proportions in advance: how many big swings, how many search-led answers, how many quick videos for the existing audience, how much Shorts against long-form. Help, Hub and Hero is one long-standing way of naming those slots.
The point is to stop a channel drifting into one mode. Nothing but big swings burns out a small team and leaves gaps between them, and nothing but service videos for existing subscribers reaches nobody new. Writing the mix down turns the balance into a decision you made once, instead of one you renegotiate every week when you are tired and behind.
