Dislikes

Also called: dislike count

YouTube removed the public dislike count in November 2021, after testing showed the number was fuelling coordinated dislike attacks on smaller channels. The button stayed. Viewers can still press it and the press still reaches YouTube as feedback, and channel owners keep the exact figure in Studio under each video's analytics. Extensions claiming to show dislikes on any video are estimating from archived and crowd-sourced data, so what they display is a guess rather than a count. What helps a creator is the ratio against their own back catalogue rather than any single total.
