In-Feed Video Ad

Also called: discovery ad, video discovery ad, in-feed ad

In-feed video ads show a thumbnail and a couple of lines of text in places people already browse: YouTube search results, the home feed, and the watch-next list beside a playing video. Nothing auto-plays, so the click is a chosen one and that is what the advertiser pays for. Google sold these as TrueView discovery ads, then video discovery ads, and since 2023 has run them inside Demand Gen campaigns that also place the same creative on Discover and Gmail. The contrast is with in-stream, which starts playing on its own in front of somebody else's video.
