TrueView

Also called: TrueView ads, TrueView for action

TrueView covered the YouTube ad formats where the advertiser paid only when someone genuinely watched, normally 30 seconds of the ad, all of it if it ran shorter, or a click. That pricing is the reason viewers get a skip button after five seconds: a skipped ad costs the advertiser nothing.

Google has since dropped the name. What was TrueView in-stream is called skippable in-stream in Google Ads, and TrueView for action became video action campaigns before being folded into Demand Gen. Agencies, media kits and half the tutorials online still say TrueView, so you will keep meeting the word long after the buying interface stopped using it.
