Limited company
Also called: Ltd, private limited company
Setting one up takes an hour and a small fee. Running one takes more: annual accounts and a confirmation statement filed at Companies House, corporation tax on profits, and directors' legal duties that survive the fact that you are the only employee. Owners take money out as salary, dividends or both, and that mix is where the tax difference against being a sole trader mostly lives. The public register is worth understanding before you file, since directors' names and a service address are visible to anybody who cares to look.
