Model release

A one-page document naming the person, the shoot, and what you may do with the footage, including where it can appear and for how long. Casual filming with friends rarely needs one. Anything commercial does, because a brand, a broadcaster or a stock library will ask for the paperwork before licensing anything. Children need a parent or guardian to sign. Getting a release after the shoot is possible and much harder, so collect them on the day while people are still standing in front of you.
