Nudity and sexual content policy

Also called: nudity policy, sexual content policy

Pornography, depictions of sexual acts intended for gratification, non-consensual intimate imagery and anything sexualising a minor are removed outright, and the last of those goes well beyond a strike. Below that line sits a wide band where nudity appears without a gratification purpose, and YouTube weighs context: the framing, what the title and description say, and whether the work is educational, documentary, scientific or artistic.

Content in that band is commonly age-restricted instead of removed, which locks out signed-out viewers and anyone under 18 and cuts distribution sharply. Age restriction also puts a video outside what most advertisers will buy. The context has to be visible in the video itself, because an educational claim with nothing supporting it on screen carries no weight.
