Screenshots, film stills, photographs, a font, four colour swatches, pinned to one board. The job is making an intention visible, because pointing at a picture is far quicker than describing warm, moody lighting to an editor and hoping you both mean the same thing. Six references that agree with each other beat fifty admired images with no thread running between them.
