Newsjacking
Also called: news hijacking, reacting to the news
The window is the whole game. A story breaks, interest climbs for a day or two, then collapses, so a good video on day four collects a fraction of what a rougher one on day one would have. Creators who do this well keep a format they can produce quickly and stay inside a subject they already understand, because the speed comes from preparation.
Two costs come with it. The output dates immediately and adds almost nothing to the library, and a channel that lives on reaction hands control of its publishing calendar to other people's news cycles.
