Negativity bias

Also called: negative framing

Negativity bias is well established in psychology: losses, threats and criticism register more strongly than gains or praise of the same size. Packaging borrows it constantly. Mistakes, warnings, things that went wrong and things you should stop doing all pull the eye. The effect on attention is real enough that the trade is worth understanding before you build a channel on it. Negative framing sets an expectation the video then has to satisfy. A viewer who clicks on a warning and finds mild advice learns to distrust the next one. Channels that use it well reserve it for the pieces where something did go wrong.
