Search query
Also called: query, search term
A keyword is shorthand a creator picks. A query is the literal string someone typed, and search reports show it that way. Queries carry intent, so 'how to clean a cast iron pan' and 'cast iron pan' want completely different videos even though the words overlap. That gap is what most keyword research misses. Two queries can share a search volume figure and still call for different formats, different lengths and different opening seconds. Long, awkwardly phrased queries are usually the most useful, because the phrasing shows you the problem behind the search.
