AI Mode

Also called: Google AI Mode

Google introduced AI Mode in 2025 and it now sits alongside the standard results page. You ask a long or awkward question, Gemini writes one answer, and links to the pages it drew on sit around it. You can keep asking follow-ups in the same thread, and you can ask with your voice or a photo instead of typing. AI Overviews is the short summary pinned above ordinary results; AI Mode hands the whole page over to the conversation. For creators, what to watch is citation. Being named as a source carries weight even when nobody clicks through, and it is a different game from ranking a page.
