Slip edit

Everything either side stays exactly where it was. A slip shifts the clip's in and out points together, sliding the visible window forwards or backwards through the source footage while the slot it occupies keeps the same start, end and duration. Use it when a shot sits in the right place but caught the wrong moment, an early reaction or a fluffed word at the top. It is the Y key in Premiere and the slip mode in Resolve, and dragging usually shows the new in and out frames side by side. Its neighbours cause confusion: a slide moves the clip and trims what surrounds it, while a roll shifts one cut point between two clips.
