Subscriber purge

Counts drop overnight now and then. Purge is the word creators reach for, and the usual explanation is housekeeping: closed accounts and accounts flagged as spam fall out of the count, so the figure corrects while the real audience stays where it was. Bought subscribers vanish the same way, which is one of several reasons buying them wastes money.

Before assuming a clean-up, open the subscribers report in Analytics and look at gains against losses across those days. Genuine unsubscribes after an unpopular upload look identical in the headline number, and that version is worth learning from. Neither is worth reacting to unless it repeats.
