Trim
Also called: trimming, trim edit
Trimming moves a clip's in or out point without moving the clip itself. Editors distinguish a few kinds. A ripple trim pulls everything after it up so no gap appears, a roll trim moves the join between two clips while leaving the total length alone, and a slip trim changes which section of the source is used while the clip stays put. Learning those three on the keyboard is the biggest speed gain available in an edit, since trimming is most of what a session actually consists of.
