Audience overlap

Also called: shared audience, other channels your audience watches

Two channels have high audience overlap when a large share of one's viewers also watch the other. You see your own version of it in Studio's Audience tab, which lists the other videos and channels your viewers spend time on. Collaborations work best at high overlap, because both audiences already know the format and the references. Low overlap explains why a niche pivot stalls: the new topic reaches people with no history of your channel at all, so each of them has to be won over from nothing, one video at a time.
