Commentary channel

This format is cheap to produce and fast to publish, so it multiplies whenever something big happens. What separates the channels that last is the analysis: a clear point of view, research, and enough original material that the video would still stand up with the borrowed footage removed.

Two risks come attached. Copyright, because fair use and fair dealing turn on how much you take and what you add, and YouTube's reused content rules, which look for substantial original commentary rather than a clip with a face in the corner. The quieter risk is dependence: build on other people's events and you inherit their news cycle.
