Other Platforms & Creator Culture
Collab post
Also called: Instagram collab, collaborator post
Instagram introduced the format and other platforms have followed. The originating account tags a collaborator, they accept, and the same post appears on every participating profile with both names on it, feeding one pooled set of likes, comments and views. Both audiences see it in their feeds. For a creator this is the cleanest form of cross-promotion available, since it puts you in front of somebody else's followers without asking anyone to click through anywhere. The catch is that the engagement is shared, so it flatters the smaller account and does relatively little for the larger one, which is why the bigger party usually wants something in return.
