Content ID appeal
Also called: appeal a claim, claim appeal
Content ID claims run in stages. You dispute a claim, the claimant reviews it, and they can release it or reinstate it. If they reinstate, appealing is the next step open to you. The claimant can then back down and release the claim, or answer with a copyright takedown request, and a takedown carries a copyright strike against the channel.
That escalation is the whole reason to think before appealing. Disputing is low risk. Appealing invites the other side to choose between backing down and reaching for the heaviest tool they have, so it suits a claim you can genuinely defend.
