Descript
Also called: text-based editing
Recording goes in, a transcript comes out, and removing a sentence from the document removes it from the timeline. Filler words can be stripped in one pass, and its Studio Sound feature cleans up room noise on speech. Podcasters and talking-head channels get the most from it, since dialogue-led material is exactly what text editing suits.
It weakens as a project becomes visual. Frame-level trims, layered graphics and colour work all sit outside anything a transcript can express, so plenty of creators use it for the rough assembly, export the sequence, and finish elsewhere.
