Digital audio workstation

Also called: DAW, Logic Pro, Audition

A DAW gives you the audio tooling a video editor only approximates: track routing, buses, real-time plugins, spectral repair, loudness metering to a target. Most creators never need one.

Reach for a DAW when the audio is the product, so podcasts, narration-heavy work, music, or anything with three or four people on separate tracks that have to be balanced against each other.
