EDSA exception

Also called: EDSA, educational documentary scientific artistic

The letters stand for educational, documentary, scientific and artistic. Footage that would normally be removed can stay up when the context makes clear why it is there, and YouTube assesses each case on its own rather than applying a rule.

For the areas carrying the most risk, that context has to be in the video or the audio itself, where a viewer will actually meet it, so a note in the description will not carry it. In practice that means stating who is in the footage and what it shows before it appears. Some material sits outside the exception entirely, including anything endangering children.
