Engagement pod

Also called: comment pod, like pod

Pods run on Telegram, Discord and WhatsApp, mostly around Instagram, LinkedIn and X. The theory is that early engagement triggers wider distribution. In practice platforms have been detecting coordinated engagement for years, and the accounts involved teach the system a false picture of who your work is for, so it gets shown to more people like your pod and fewer people who might genuinely care. There is platform risk on top: this counts as inauthentic engagement under most terms of service, and enforcement lands on the participants. A group that actually reads and responds to each other's work is a different thing entirely.
