Face blur

Also called: blur faces, custom blurring

YouTube Studio's editor detects faces and lets you choose which to blur, following each one as it moves through the shot. Custom blurring covers everything else: draw a rectangle or oval over a number plate, a screen or a street sign and set when it appears. The edit applies to the video already published, so the link, the view count and the comments all survive it. Two limits. Automatic detection misses faces in profile and in low light, and since June 2025 the revert-to-original option no longer undoes changes once they are saved.
