Fan theory

Theories grow in the gaps a channel leaves: a recurring character, an unexplained detail in the background, a running bit nobody has accounted for. Viewers fill the gap in the comments, argue about it, and come back to see who was right. Confirming a theory ends the conversation, ignoring every one of them can read as contempt, and the common middle path is acknowledging that people are talking without settling the question.
