The For You Page is where nearly all TikTok watching happens. It is built per viewer from what they have watched, rewatched, finished, liked and skipped, and it will place a video from an account with no followers next to one from an account with millions. That property is how the phrase leaked into general creator vocabulary, with "getting on the FYP" becoming shorthand for reaching people who had never heard of you. The Shorts feed works on the same principle, and creators who post to both use the terms interchangeably. TikTok also has a Following feed, though the app opens on For You.
