Monetisation & Revenue

Product Shelf

Also called: shopping shelf, product list

Channels in YouTube Shopping can attach products to a video, and those attachments render as a shelf: under the player on desktop, behind a shopping button on mobile, and as stickers on Shorts. Tapping an item opens the store listing. The creator earns a commission or a direct sale depending on whether the product is their own or an affiliate one. The shelf is only as good as the tagging behind it. A product that goes out of stock earns nothing, and a shelf stuffed with loosely related items reads as noise. Two or three things used on camera in the video read as a recommendation.
