Shelf

Also called: home shelf, recommendation shelf

Almost every YouTube surface is built out of shelves. The home page stacks them, search results break channels and playlists into their own rows, and a channel page is a set of shelves you order yourself in Studio's personalisation settings. Some appear on their own: a channel's post shelf shows up once there are two posts on it, and the same settings page turns it off again. Creators often want to know which shelf sent them a view. Analytics does not report at that level. It gives you traffic sources such as browse features or suggested videos, and any one of those covers a great many shelves.
