Schema markup

Also called: structured data, VideoObject schema, JSON-LD

Schema markup is code in a page, usually a JSON-LD block, that labels the content using a vocabulary from schema.org. A VideoObject block states the name, description, thumbnail URL, upload date and duration of an embedded video. Search engines read those labels instead of guessing from the page text, and the labels can qualify a page for video results and rich snippets.

Markup describes what is already there. Claiming a video the page does not contain, or a duration the file does not have, is the mistake that gets the whole block ignored.
