Shorts replay on their own, so a well-matched cut means the second pass has already started before the viewer has decided whether to swipe. The build is straightforward in principle. End on the same framing, subject position and audio phrase you opened on, which usually means shooting the first and last beats in one setup so nothing has moved. It suits visual gags, transformations and reveals, where seeing the setup again with the payoff in mind is worth doing. Forcing one onto an idea with a proper ending tends to cost you the ending and gain you very little.
