StreamYard runs in a browser tab and sends a finished broadcast to YouTube, so the composition, lower thirds, banners and layout all happen on their servers. Guests join by clicking a link with no account and no download, which is the main reason interview and podcast shows reach for it.
Paid plans also push one broadcast to several destinations at once, YouTube and LinkedIn and Facebook together. Against a local encoder such as OBS you give up fine control and you depend on a third party staying up, and your connection has to hold for the whole broadcast because the feed leaves your machine live.
