Viewers buy a Super Chat to make their message stand out in a busy chat. The payment sets the colour and how long the message stays pinned, so larger amounts hold the streamer's attention for longer. It unlocks at the entry tier of the Partner Program alongside the other fan-funding features, so a channel does not need a share of ad revenue to accept one.
Streamers who earn well from it read the messages aloud and do it consistently, because what is being bought is a moment of acknowledgement. Availability varies by country.
