Skippable In-Stream Ad

Also called: skippable ad, skip ad, TrueView in-stream

Skippable in-stream is the format most people picture when they think of a YouTube ad. It plays before, during or after the video, and a Skip Ad button appears after 5 seconds. On the buying side it is usually charged per view, which means the advertiser pays when somebody watches 30 seconds, watches the whole ad if it runs shorter than that, or clicks through, whichever comes first. A skip inside the first 5 seconds costs the advertiser nothing. That matters to a creator, because the revenue attached to an ad slot follows what the advertiser was billed for.
