The form runs on an argument. A thesis gets stated, evidence and clips are marshalled around it, counterpoints are handled, and the whole thing closes somewhere different from where it opened. Length varies from 10 minutes to several hours, and the ceiling has kept rising as watch time on long pieces held up. Visuals are usually illustrative, cut from archive and screen recordings, since the value sits in the script. What separates a good one from a bad one is a real position. Assembling a summary of what other people have said and reading it over B-roll is a compilation with a voiceover attached.
