Voiceover script

Also called: VO script, narration script

A voiceover script carries the parts of a video the picture cannot say, which makes it a different job from writing for camera. Sentences get shorter. Nothing can lean on your face doing the work. Silence is allowed, because a few seconds of footage explaining itself often beats a line laid over the top of it.

The order of work varies. Some write the script and cut to it; others assemble the footage and write to the picture. What sinks a script is writing it like prose on a page, then finding out at the microphone that nobody talks like that.
