Other Platforms & Creator Culture
Content house
Also called: collab house, creator house
The model peaked with the big TikTok houses around 2020: a rented mansion, a group of young creators, sponsors paying for placement, and a schedule built on everyone appearing in everyone else's uploads. It works because collaboration is the cheapest audience growth available and the set is already there. It fails for the reasons any flatshare fails, with contracts and revenue splits on top. The famous ones broke up quickly, several in public disputes about money and duty of care. Smaller versions still work: three creators, one filming weekend, no lease.
