Domain authority

Also called: DA, site authority

Moz created domain authority as a comparative score for a whole website, built mostly from the size and quality of its backlink profile. The scale runs from 1 to 100 and is logarithmic, so climbing from 20 to 30 is far easier than climbing from 60 to 70. Other tools sell similar scores under their own names, and they rarely agree with each other. Here is what people get wrong: search engines do not read this number. It exists to compare sites against each other, which makes it handy for judging whether a guest post or a mention is worth chasing, and useless as a target in itself.
