Viewers reach it from the channel page, and creators edit it in Studio under Customisation, Basic info. The description explains what the channel is and who it is for, the links block carries a website and other profiles, and a business email can be published for enquiries.
Most channels write it once and never look again. It shows. The first line does the work, since that is what appears before anyone expands anything, and a description written for a channel you stopped making two years ago sends the wrong signal to a sponsor checking you out. Keep the links alive too, because dead ones sit there for years.
