Ko-fi began as a way for an audience to buy a creator the price of a coffee, and it has grown memberships, digital downloads, commission requests and a basic shop since. Payments arrive in your own PayPal or Stripe account, so there is no payout threshold to wait for. It sits at the casual end of creator funding, which is its advantage: somebody who will never commit to a monthly membership will happily drop a one-off tip after a video that got them out of a hole.
