Newsletter recommendations

Also called: recommendations network, cross-recommendations

Someone subscribes to your newsletter and is shown a short list of others, each with a tick box. Every publication in the network does the same and subscribers flow both ways. Beehiiv and Substack build this in, and paid versions exist where you buy placement at a price per subscriber.

Quality is the whole question. People who arrived by ticking a box never chose you specifically. Open rates from recommendation traffic usually sit below organic signups and list hygiene matters more. Pick partners whose audience genuinely overlaps yours, and read your numbers by source instead of in aggregate.
