Shooting script

A shooting script takes the written script and adds everything the camera needs to know. Each section gets a shot type, an angle, a location, any movement, and notes on props, wardrobe or blocking. Solo creators often keep two columns, dialogue left, shots right. The point is to move decisions off the shoot day. That is when the light is going, you are tired, and every unplanned choice costs twenty minutes. It also prevents the most expensive mistake in solo production, which is packing up and driving home before realising you never got a wide shot to cut to.
