Monetisation & Revenue

Shorts RPM

Also called: Shorts revenue per mille, Shorts earnings rate

RPM on Shorts is total earnings divided by views, times 1,000, which is the same sum used for long-form. Where the money comes from differs. Ad revenue from the Shorts feed is pooled, music licensing is paid out of that pool first, and creators in the programme keep 45% of what remains, split by each creator's share of total Shorts views. Your figure therefore moves with how much the whole feed earned that month and how large your slice of it was. Treat any published Shorts RPM benchmark with suspicion, because the numbers that circulate come from single channels in specific niches and get repeated as though they were a platform rate.
