Aimed at your own audience a shout-out is recognition, and membership perks often include one for that purpose. Aimed at another creator it is a referral costing nothing but a sentence. Swaps are the weak version. An audience assembled around you has no particular reason to want the other channel, and viewers can tell the difference between an honest recommendation and a trade.
