Someone sits down and works for an hour or three, filmed or streamed with barely a word spoken. Many run a visible timer on a 25 minute work cycle with a 5 minute break, some add rain or cafe sound, and the viewer works alongside them. The appeal is company and an imposed structure, which is why the runtime is the product and cutting it down defeats the format. StudyTube is the community that grew around this, mostly students. It has outlasted a decade of formats that looked far more durable, largely because the audience wants the company more than the content.
