YouTube Communities

Announced in September 2024, Communities gives a channel a room of its own inside YouTube where viewers post and reply to each other without a specific video as the anchor. Moderation controls come with it, and the point is conversation between fans rather than replies aimed at the creator.

The name collides with something older. The Community tab is where a channel publishes posts, polls and images to its own subscribers, and it has been around for years. Communities is the two-way space. Access has arrived in stages rather than all at once, so a channel that cannot see the feature has not done anything wrong.
