Apology video
Also called: Notes app apology
The conventions are fixed enough that audiences parody them: plain background, no make-up, hands in shot, a long runtime, and phrasing that apologises for how people felt. Its cousin is the screenshot of a note typed on a phone. Audiences now grade the format itself as much as the content, and the reliable failures repeat: a delay long enough to look calculated, an explanation that outweighs the apology, comments switched off, monetisation left running. Some creators post a short written statement instead, precisely to avoid the genre and everything it signals.
