Apple Podcasts works from an RSS feed you host elsewhere and submit through Apple Podcasts Connect. Once a show is approved, the listing propagates widely, because a long tail of third-party apps built their catalogues from Apple's, so getting in here has historically been the quickest route to being everywhere.

Two things still matter for creators. Apple's charts and category rankings carry weight with press and sponsors even as listening share moves elsewhere, and Apple's own analytics report follower and completion figures your host cannot see. The feed stays yours throughout, so moving hosts or leaving the platform costs you nothing structural.
