Channel Strategy & Niche

Channel icon

Also called: profile picture, channel avatar, PFP

Banner art only appears on the channel page. The icon travels: search results, suggested panels, the subscriptions feed, and next to every comment you leave under somebody else's video. It is also rendered small and circular almost everywhere, and that decides the design. A face cropped tight, or a single high-contrast mark, still reads at that size. A full logo with a strapline under it turns to mush. Because the image is tied to the account behind the channel, changing it updates everywhere at once, which makes a rebrand free to roll out and expensive to keep repeating.
