Audience, Community & Membership

Discord server

Also called: server, guild

Discord gives an audience somewhere to talk to each other rather than only to the creator. A server splits into channels, roles control who sees what, and bots can hand out a members-only role automatically to anyone who links a YouTube channel membership or a Patreon tier. That automation is why so many paid perks end up living there.

The trap is opening one too early. An empty server reads as a dead project, and 50 people who all talk beats 5,000 who never post.
