Living room viewing

The television set is YouTube's fastest-growing viewing surface by watch time, and Alphabet's leadership has said the recommendation systems are driving that growth in both Shorts and living room. For creators the consequences are mostly practical. A thumbnail read from across a room needs bigger text and fewer elements than one read on a phone, and dense on-screen graphics, small captions and tight lower thirds tend to fall apart at that distance. Navigation is slower too, because a remote makes browsing more deliberate than a thumb does. The Devices report in Studio shows how much of your own watch time already arrives this way.
